Hickory Kitchen Refacing Pictures
The first four pictures show the old dark oak frame and panel doors. They were worn, scratched and the finish had dulled over time.
The next seven pictures show the refaced kitchen using solid hickory raised panel doors. The owner requested hickory with a few knots but they didn't want it to look too rustic. They chose a light stain to make this small kitchen feel more spacious.
We overlaid the existing cabinet frames with new 1/4" solid hickory facing - see picture 5 (not veneer).
To increase the storage space we removed the center posts from the double door cabinets (see picture 6). We also added two roll out shelves to the left of the stove. This replaced the old (almost useless) half shelf in that cabinet.
Above the stove they had a wood shelf (dangerous above a stove!) which a portable microwave sat on (pic #1). We installed a convenction above-the-stove microwave in place of that (see picture 8).
The back of the wall cabinets which faced the dining room had printed wood grain on them. These we replaced with hickory fronts and it looks much more elegant.
