Jerry Knoll designed this vanity to be fully accessible from a wheel chair. Note that it is slopped to allow for a wheel chair to pull up close to the sink. We set it at a height specific to the client. Access to the plumbing is provided by an angled drop-down panel. A small recessed medicine cabinet (upper right) was built and installed for easy access from the wheelchair. The sink is shallow and the faucet is to the left to allow easy use while sitting in the wheel chair.
Across the room a double vanity was built with a makeup area. The full height doors on the left and right of the sit-down area pull out and have storage for various make-up items and a hair dryer and curling iron. Outlets were provided in the back of the cabinets so the appliances are always plugged in.
The wall above the double sink/make-up area has continous mirrors and we incorporated a mirrored medicine cabinet above the make-up table that sits almost flush with the other mirrors.
The medicine cabinet opened for easy access when sitting at the make-up area.
Additional 10" deep ceiling height cabinets were mounted on the far left and right of the mirrored wall. These were installed on top of the mirrors after the large mirrors were set otherwise the mirror company would have had to make separate pieces below the cabinets. This made the mirrors almost seemless.
